To achieve the ICSA Labs Anti-Virus Certification, products must meet all criteria for detection of malware in desktops and servers. Products must demonstrate they have the capability to detect, identify and prevent self-replicating malware while reporting no false positives. The products also must be able to log the results of virus-detection attempts. ICSA Labs, an independent division of Verizon Business, announced on October 22, 2009 that it has certified ESET NOD32 Antivirus in detection and cleaning following its first round of testing security software designed for the just-released Microsoft Windows 7 operating system.

ESET NOD32 Antivirus has achieved 57 Virus Bulletin VB100 Awards, more than any other product. In Virus Bulletin's comparative tests, ESET NOD32 Antivirus has not missed an 'In the Wild' virus sample since May 1998.

Named "Best Antivirus Product" of 2006 and 2007, ESET has earned 11 "Advanced+" ratings since 2004, more than twice as many as any other vendor.
